Everton handed hope of signing after agent comments – Uncertainty about whether Toffees links are concrete

Reports in Spain earlier this month spoke of Everton interest in Juventus’ Arthur Melo, and it wasn’t the first time the link had been made.

Three days ago, a report in Italy also linked the player with a move to the Merseyside club.

It was mentioned that the Toffees are a top candidate to land the Brazilian outcast, who failed to seal an exit from Juventus in the summer and remains out of the club’s project.

He had a decent loan stint at Fiorentina in the 2023/24 campaign and played 48 times, but they didn’t want to finance a permanent transfer.

The midfielder’s agent Federico Pastorello has now spoken to Calciomercato.it about the situation of his client, handing hope and encouragement to Everton and anyone else keen.

He said: “Arthur has a lot of market in Brazil , but his desire is to stay in Europe.”

Pastorello revealed that there are some concrete leads for the 28-year-old and said it’s a ‘mortal sin’ for a player of his ability to not be active right now.

“We have some concrete leads , so we hope to see him on the pitch soon, because it is truly a mortal sin that a player like that is not used.”

Arthur’s torrid time at Liverpool wouldn’t send great signals for a move to Everton, and since the links started it’s felt like it’s his camp potentially trying to encourage the Premier League club.
