‘I feel very comfortable there’… Pedri reacts after putting in another excellent display for Barcelona

FC Barcelona returned to winning way last night as they got a 3-0 victory over the French side Brest to further cement their position in the top 8 of the UEFA Champions League table.

Several players clearly put in a vastly improved performance in this game, and one such player in particular was the midfielder Pedri. The Canarian put on a highly impressive display, and it was his pass that ultimately resulted in the penalty and Barcelona’s first goal on the night.

The midfielder also got a standing ovation from the fans as he made his way off the pitch, and as Mundo Deportivo has reported, he was one of the players who talked to the media after the match ended.

The Barcelona midfielder made his feelings clear about his positioning on the pitch: “I felt really good, and I also enjoy playing deeper, where I have more contact with the ball; I feel very comfortable there.”

The 22-year-old also opened up about not winning the MVP award for this game: ”I didn’t win the MVP, and someone told me I deserved it, but if they gave it to Cubarsí, I’m happy because as long as someone from our team gets it, I’m satisfied.“

The Canary Islander was also asked about his contract renewal negotiations but he did not give a clear answer: “I don’t know anything, but I always say that I feel very good here, and I’ll talk to my agent about it.”

Furthermore, Pedri also expressed his ideas on the return of Lamine Yamal, whose absence has been felt very keenly by Barcelona in the last few games: “Lamine Yamal is training, he’s feeling better than before, but most importantly, he needs to come back fully fit. It’s better to recover well than to risk a relapse—I know what that’s like.”

It is evident that without Yamal, Flick’s team loses one of its primary offensive weapons, making it easier for opponents to contain their other attackers.

However, Pedri is right in emphasizing that Yamal is still just 17 years old, and rushing his return could have long-term consequences for his career. Ideally, the youngster will only make his comeback once he is fully fit, and hopefully, he can achieve that fitness level soon.
