Michael Stewart gets slammed in front of John McGinn for 'not really appreciating' Celtic player

Patience is proving to be Celtic’s success.

Brendan Rodgers returned to Celtic last summer, but the team didn’t produce the performances they wanted and some doubts were flying about.

But, by the end of it all, Celtic won the double, the boxes were ticked and fast forward to the present where nearly everything is going right.

It seems that Rodgers has needed those 12 months to settle in again, know his players, change them into his way of thinking, and individual players just needing the time to go to the next level.

You look across the board and Celtic are flying, with only one defeat all season and that came during the nightmare evening in Dortmund.

One previously doubted man hasn’t just shut his critics up, but is probably the best player in Scotland right now.

John McGinn told Michael Stewart ‘doesn’t appreciate’ Celtic star Nicolas Kuhn

The Scottish Football Social Club invited Aston Villa captain John McGinn to discuss many things, including what’s happening at Parkhead.

Given that Nicolas Kuhn scored again for Celtic at the weekend, presenter Darrell Currie and former right-back Alan Hutton were poking fun at Michael Stewart for his past doubts over the German star.

Hutton told McGinn that his fellow pundit ‘doesn’t really appreciate what Kuhn gives to the team’, but Stewart was sure to correct all of that.

“It’s a fair strike there from Kuhn to beat Craig Gordon,” said Stewart. To which presenter Darrell Currie responded: “Your favourite player, Kuhn. He keeps doing it, Michael. Since you doubted him, he has excelled.”

Stewart responded: “Yeah, yeah. That was early season.” Then Alan Hutton chipped in: “John (McGinn), just so you know. Michael doesn’t really appreciate what Kuhn gives to the team. He thinks he should do more. I am just filling him in.”

Stewart then added: “You are talking in the wrong tense there. It was past tense. Not current.”

Kuhn’s stats for Celtic

It has now been well-documented that when Kuhn first arrived in January, he then had off-field dental issues which meant that he wasn’t eating properly.

That’s not exactly helpful, but now that he has settled in and is feeling as strong as ever, then everyone is seeing the results.

It’s not even Christmas yet and he already has 22 goal involvements, as posted by Transfermarkt, including a brace as Celtic beat RB Leipzig in the Champions League last time out.
