Micah Richards makes major Ruben Amorim prediction after manager’s first Man Utd match vs Ipswich, it’s telling

Micah Richards made his feelings clear about Ruben Amorim after the Manchester United manager’s first match in charge ended in a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town.

Manchester United travelled to Portman Road on Sunday for their first Premier League clash since the end of the November international break.

Ruben Amorim, who was appointed United manager earlier this month, watched on from the Portman Road touchline as the Red Devils made a strong start.

Marcus Rashford started down the middle for the Red Devils and the United star broke the deadlock against Ipswich Town only two minutes into the match.

United were dominant to start with against Ipswich in the Premier League contest, but the Red Devils were unable to sustain their momentum as the match progressed.

Omari Hutchinson cancelled out Marcus Rashford’s opener before half-time and United and Ipswich went into the break with a 1-1 scoreline on the board.

Ipswich became more confident in the second half and United were unable to reassert their dominance over Kieran McKenna’s side after the break.

United had to settle for a single point in their first match under Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag as United manager after the Dutchman’s sacking.

Richards has Amorim prediction at Man Utd

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Micah Richards admitted that Manchester United “looked alive” and “looked sharp” at one point under Ruben Amorim.

However, the former Manchester City and England defender said that he was “getting excited” by United before Amorim’s men went “flat” against Ipswich Town.

Richards has now predicted that Amorim won’t receive the players he wants in January, but the Red Devils could “see five or six players” arrive next summer.

“They looked alive, they looked sharp,” he said.

“All the things you thought [would happen]. I was getting excited, and then it just went flat.

“I don’t think he [Amorim] is going to get the players he wants in January, but I think in the summer, we are going to see five or six players come in now. I just believe that.

“I was a bit disappointed in the showing. That’s not the manager – he needs time to implement his style.

“It was almost like a fizzy drink. I expected so much; they started so well, and then it just fizzled out a bit. On another day, Ipswich could have scored four or five.”

Amorim sends message after Ipswich draw

Speaking after Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Portman Road, Amorim said that he would be using the players at his disposal to help manage a fixture-heavy period for United.

“We have to find a way. I think the only way to do it is we have games and the guys that don’t play, have training,” he explained.

“Everyone is going to play and everyone is going to be on the bench so they have the feeling of the game but they need to train.

“With this schedule, we need to rotate the team, so we will try to use that to train, to improve the team between matches.

“Without time, we have to find the time and this is the only way. Some of the guys are going to play and some of the guys in the next days will work on our idea and then they will change the positions.”
