European giants ready to offer Chelsea talent immediate first team minutes amid contract…

European giants Bayern Munich are the latest club interested in Josh Acheampong as his contract standoff with Chelsea continues according to reports.

It was reported last month that Acheampong was frozen out by Chelsea and won’t play for the club again until he signs a new deal.

The teenager is currently under contract until 2026 and only singed a new contract in January this year which makes Chelsea’s hard stance a bit strange.

Bayern Munich latest club interested in Acheampong

Acheampong is regarded as one of the brightest talents in the academy along with Tyrique George and he was part of the squad for the pre-season tour of America.

The 18-year-old made his Chelsea debut under Mauricio Pochettino last season and has already appeared for the first team under Enzo Maresca, playing 27 minutes in the Carabao Cup tie against Barrow.

With Reece James suffering another injury setback and Malo Gusto not immune to picking up injuries himself, Acheampong has missed out on a number of opportunities to add to his first team appearances.

It’s a real shame a player of his quality isn’t playing because of a contractual issue and Maresca recently described it as a “bad situation.”

Felix Johnston has provided an update on Acheampong’s situation and said Bayern Munich are now showing interest in the youngster.

He took to X.com and said:

“Tentative progress has been made on the Chelsea side. Chelsea are really pushing and talks are on-going. They don’t want the situation to drag on. One area where progress has been made is Chelsea presented a potential idea for a loan to Strasbourg in the future.

“In talks on pathway, this was initially a stumbling block, as it wasn’t desired by the player, but I’m told he’s now more open to it after talks. There are a lot of clubs interested in Acheampong. In addition to PSG, Real Madrid, Dortmund and Liverpool, I’m told Bayern Munich are very interested. They are promising the player immediate 1st team minutes.

“Liverpool’s pursuit is linked to the Trent Alexander-Arnold situation. PSG are very interested, but to this point it’s not the player’s preferred destination.”

You can understand why he might be hesitant to commit given James and Gusto are clearly ahead of him but if James can’t get on top of his injury issues there is a clear pathway at Chelsea for Acheampong.
