Arsenal have been linked to a Serie A striker who could be a cheaper alternative to Alexander Isak.
Arsenal are reportedly monitoring in-form Atalanta striker Mateo Retegui as a possible transfer target striker alongside Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak. The attacker has scored 14 goals in all competitions so far this season and also has three assists for the Serie A club, establishing himself as one of the more in-demand strikers in world football.
According to Italian outlet CalcioMercato, Arsenal could make a January transfer move for Retegui whose value is estimated to be around the £38m mark making him a much cheaper option compared to Isak.
The Atalanta striker also has more goals so far this season and Isak’s inconsistent form has put a doubt on his hefty price tag. However, the doubt for Retegui is that he doesn’t have experience outside of the Serie A in Europe due to spells at Genoa and now Atalanta. The 25-year-old had previously spent time on several loan moves in Argentina before moving to Italy and joining Genoa in 2023.
