Brentford's Christian Norgaard can breathe a sigh of relief as his red card from Saturday's goalless draw with Everton has been rescinded after a successful appeal.
The 30-year-old midfielder was sent off before the break when ref Chris Kavanagh, encouraged by VAR, saw an issue with Norgaard's challenge on keeper Jordan Pickford.
Despite his efforts to connect with Ethan Pinnock's header, Norgaard's studs met Pickford's knee, leading to his dismissal for serious foul play.
Bees manager Thomas Frank protested vehemently, earning himself a booking, and post-match argued: "It was not a red card. I will have to tell my players they can’t jump in and try to score in the six-yard box."
The overturned decision implies Norgaard, who has started 10 league games this season and scored once, will be back in the starting line-up for Brentford's upcoming trio of fixtures, including Leicester's trip to the Gtech Community Stadium.
The tie at Goodison secured Brentford’s first league clean sheet of the season, placing them 11th with a tally of five victories from their 12 matches played.
