Frank Lampard has been out of work since a brief spell as Chelsea’s interim boss in 2023, but there’s increasing speculation that he’ll soon be back in the manager’s dugout.

Now, the English great looks set to take the reigns at Championship club Coventry City imminently.
According to The Athletic, Lampard is in advanced negotiations to become Coventry’s new manager on a two-and-a-half-year deal. If an agreement is reached, it will be his fourth permanent management job following spells at Derby Country, Chelsea and Everton.
Lampard maintains a great relationship with Chelsea’s sporting directors, so could we end up seeing some Blues youngsters join Coventry?

Frank Lampard admirers young Chelsea trio
Respected journalist Simon Phillips has claimed via Substack on Wednesday that Lampard is still progressing to become Coventry’s new boss. Apparently, there’s been a delay because of conversations regarding transfers, but he’s still expected to land the job in the Championship.
It is understood that Lampard is expected to try and negotiate signing a couple of players from Chelsea at some stage. If he becomes Coventry manager, he could try recruit some Blues individuals either in January or next summer.
Phillips adds that he’s been told by one source that Chelsea youngsters Josh Acheampong, Tyrique George, and Marc Guiu are names to watch. They’re three rising stars that Lampard does like.

Marc Guiu needs loan move
From the names mentioned above, Marc Guiu is definitely a Chelsea youngster that would benefit from a loan spell in 2025.
The 18-year-old striker has struggled for first-team minutes since he joined the Blues in the summer from Barcelona. Unfortunately, he’s behind both Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson in the pecking order.
Axel Disasi praised Chelsea’s Guiu as a “young talent” after he recently scored his first goal of the season in the 8-0 win over Noah in the Conference League. However, his developed could be fast-tracked if he gets some time out on loan in a first-team environment.
