Arsenal may have some work to do in the January transfer window.
The Gunners are lagging behind in the Premier League title race right now as they’re currently nine points behind Liverpool.
However, as we’ve seen from Manchester City in recent years, those gaps can quickly close if a team goes on a serious winning run.
Arsenal will be hoping to kick on, but in order to do that, they may need some January signings.
Arsenal need a striker, and Mikel Arteta is apparently looking in that area.
Viktor Gyokeres has been linked to Arsenal, while Victor Osimhen is another option for Arteta.
Away from the striker position, Arsenal could also do with another attacking midfielder.
Martin Odegaard’s recent injury exposed Arsenal’s problems in that position, and reinforcements may be needed.
Luckily, help could be on the way.

Arsenal could sign Rayan Cherki
Speaking on the Ranks FC Podcast, Dean Jones named Arsenal as a potential landing spot for Lyon’s Rayan Cherki.
The journalist says that Cherki could be available for £25m in January, and a move could be on the cards.
“At number four. It’s Rayan Cherki, who is just absolutely unbelievable,” Jones said.
“Potential landing spots at the moment for Cherki include Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal. I’m sure you’ll have thoughts on others that should be in the mix. But obviously, this becomes more interesting because there’s a lot of talk that Lyon are going to have to cash in on some players in the near future.
“We’ll have to wait to see whether that actually proves to be true, whether they’re actually tempted. But I mean, you see figures around Cherki and there’s like 25 million pounds is talked about, which just seems like too good to be true. He’s just different, this player.
“If you haven’t seen Cherki play, then just either stop the pod and go and watch him on YouTube for 10 minutes and then come back or just go watch him while we’re talking right now. Because his skill level is outrageous. He feels like he could become one of the best players in the world.”
Where does Rayan Cherki play?
This could be a very smart signing from Arsenal.
Indeed, Cherki could solve two of the Gunners’ biggest problems at once.
Not only would Cherki provide some backup for Martin Odegaard after his recnet injury issues exposed a weakness in this Arsenal squad, he’d also provide backup for Bukayo Saka down the right wing.
Arsenal have been accused of over-using Saka in recent times, and Cherki’s ability to play down that right wing would be a big help.

As Jones says, Liverpool and Chelsea are also keen on Cherki, so this deal wouldn’t be easy, but £25m for a talented young player who can cover two key positions would be a clever bit of business from Arsenal.
At the age of just 21, the sky is the limit for a player like Cherki, and under the tutelage of Mikel Arteta, he could become a superstar.
