Juventus man in border police issue ahead of Aston Villa game – Player spends extra time at Birmingham airport

Aston Villa take on Juventus in the Champions League later today and it will be a vital game in the English club’s quest for qualification to the next round of the competition.

Unai Emery’s side are 12th in the table and lost their previous game to Club Brugge, making the game today an important tie, especially considering how they haven’t won once in their last six games in all competitions.

While Villa Park is ready for the game, there seems to have been a hitch at Juventus’ end.

Corriere dello Sport report Juventus were late to realise that current entry customs are quite extensive for non-EU citizens. Timothy Weah, as a result, spent over an hour at Birmingham airport.

The USA international was asked for additional information about himself as the explanation from Juventus’ directors didn’t prove enough.

Initially, it was Weah who was supposed to speak to the media during the press conference but the responsibilities were taken over by Andrea Cambiaso.

The 24-year-old will still be featuring in the clash against Aston Villa today, but it was a hitch that could have been avoided ahead of a big contest in Birmingham.
