Max Kilman chatting with former boss Alan Devonshire at York Road a couple of seasons ago

Maidenhead United chairman Peter Griffin is inviting supporters to York Road next month to discover how the club plans to use the money it’s receiving from the sell on clause for Max Kilman.
United received a large windfall this summer when Kilman moved from Wolverhampton Wanderers to West Ham United for a reported £40m.
It was widely reported that Maidenhead had a 20 per cent sell on clause for the player, agreed when he moved from York Road to Molineux in 2018.
However, Griffin admitted in July the club had agreed to renegotiate that fee down to help facilitate the move of their former player to East London.
He said all parties had agreed to ‘give some ground’ and felt getting the deal done was in the ‘best interests of the club’.
Kilman’s move to West Ham was one of the biggest deals done between Premier League clubs in the summer transfer window.
At the time Griffin told fans he would hold an open meeting with them to discuss the implications of the income they were set to receive, and he’s now able to do that at Stripes Sports Bar on Wednesday, December 11 (commencing from 7pm).
Griffin released a statement on Tuesday saying: “Following the sale of Maximilian Kilman from Wolverhampton Wanderers to West Ham United over the summer, I promised an open meeting with supporters discuss the implications of the income we are receiving from the associated sell on clause and the future of the club.
“I fully appreciate an update is well overdue and am grateful for the patience which supporters have shown in the intervening period.
“There is no doubt that transfer fee we are receiving because of Max’s sale was an important outcome for the club, particularly given the disappointment and uncertainty created by the decision made by the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead councillors to withdraw their support for our proposed ground move.
“Our challenge remains, however, to make sure we make the right decisions to secure the long-term future and benefit of the club for all, which I do not take lightly.
“I am pleased to be able to invite all supporters to Stripes Sports Bar on Wednesday, 11th December to receive an update from myself and CEO Jon Adams, commencing at 7pm.
“I thank you for your loyal, continued support of Maidenhead United, and hope you will be able to join us in just over two weeks as we look towards the future of our football club.”
