Gary Lineker believes the Premier League made the right decision to overturn Christian Norgaard’s three-match ban after his red card against Everton.
The Brentford midfielder received his marching orders in the 0-0 game at Goodison Park on Saturday and that decision split opinion among many people.
However, after successfully appealing that decision, the Denmark international will be available for the Bees clash against Leicester City.
Lineker wrote on X: “The right decision.”
Christian Norgaard was perhaps unlucky to be sent off v Everton
The decision to overturn Norgaard’s red card is understandable given the unintentional nature of the incident.
During the match, his challenge, while resulting in contact, was clearly aimed at the ball rather than the player.

Such instances often occur in the high-speed environment of professional football where split-second decisions are made.
The lack of malice was evident as Norgaard was not attempting to injure or even foul the opponent in a dangerous manner and his intent was purely to play the ball.
Authorities appear have increasingly recognised the importance of distinguishing between reckless challenges and genuine attempts to play the game fairly.
The appeal’s success reflects this understanding, acknowledging that while the tackle might have looked bad in slow-motion replays, in real-time, it was a footballing action without intent to harm.
