Ruben Amorim has personally mentioned Manchester United targeting 'complete' Chelsea player - journalist

Chelsea’s first-team player is believed to be on the transfer wishlist for Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.

There’s been a few significant managerial changes at some of England’s biggest clubs in recent months. For example, Enzo Maresca took charge as the new Chelsea manager back in the summer.

Meanwhile, Man United appointed Ruben Amorim as their head coach in November, replacing Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford dugout.

Amorim was in the frame for the Chelsea job back in the summer before Maresca arrived at Stamford Bridge. Eventually, he’s ended up securing his first move to English football, but it’s under the magnifying glass at Man United.

Ruben Amorim would love Christopher Nkunku at Manchester United

Respected journalist Simon Phillips has claimed via Substack on Wednesday afternoon that Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku is receiving a fair amount of transfer interest amid a lack of starts this season.

It is explained that Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are both serious suitors for the 27-year-old Blues attacker. Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain are keen on re-signing the French attacker, too.

Apparently, Man United boss Amorim has personally mentioned Nkunku as someone he’d love to bring to Old Trafford and think he’s attainable.

Phillips adds that some clubs may try to sign Nkunku when the January transfer window comes around, but Chelsea are unlikely to entertain anything until the summer. If the forward wants to leave by then, they could listen to offers.

Nkunku isn’t happy with his current situation at Chelsea, but he’s not made any kind of complaints to the club. Instead, he’s stayed professional and delivered whenever called upon.

Nkunku isn’t planning to leave Chelsea in January, which should be a relief for the Blues because he’s an outstanding alternative to Nicolas Jackson in the striker position. How much longer will he be content playing second fiddle, though?

Christopher Nkunku stuck in Chelsea’s B-team

Nkunku can’t seem to force his way into the best Chelsea line-up for the Premier League.

Many people may have expected the versatile attacker to be a key player in Maresca’s side this campaign, but Jackson is thriving as the first-choice striker.

Here is a look at Nkunku’s record so far this season, where he’s still scored goals at a decent rate:

Competition Appearances Starts Goals Assists

Premier Leauge 11 1 1 0

Conference League 3 3 4 1

Conference League qualifiers 2 2 2 0

Carabao Cup 2 2 3 0

There’s no doubt that the French star is a talented attacker and clinical finisher. Owen Hargreaves rates Nkunku as a “complete” player with so much talent.

As a result, it’s no surprise to hear exit speculation in the transfer rumour mill at a time when he’s struggling for starts at Chelsea.
