Making it at Chelsea is not an easy thing to do, especially if you are a young player coming through the club’s academy.
Each season, Chelsea always have a very talented squad. And every summer, they normally add to it.
It is why some young players at the club are reluctant to sign a new contract and eventually choose to leave Cobham.
Josh Acheampong has found himself in that kind of situation, but there is now a genuine chance for him to become a permanent member of the Chelsea first team and succeed in west London.

Josh Acheampong training with first team again
After failing to agree a new contract with Chelsea, the club had frozen Acheampong out.
However, ahead of their game against Heidenheim in the Conference League, Chelsea have allowed Acheampong to rejoin the first team.
It means that the defender could play against the German club on Thursday. And if he does and manages to have a good match, there is no reason why he cannot go on to get more chances in the future.
With Reece James injured yet again, the opportunity is certainly there for the young full-back.

James continues to show that he cannot stay fit, which is disappointing for both the player and Chelsea.
However, if you are Acheampong, it is an opportunity to get into the team and really show Enzo Maresca and the club what you can do.
Maresca thought Acheampong was “fantastic” during pre-season. He has the backing of his manager and now just needs to back himself.
Ultimately, because of James’ constant unavailability, Acheampong should consider signing whatever contract Chelsea are offering him. The right-back will get opportunities as long as his teammate remains sidelined, and if he takes them, he will have the chance to become a success at Chelsea and make it at one of English football’s biggest clubs.
