Liverpool manager Arne Slot has played down comments that Mohammed Salah made after the Reds’ win against Southampton.
Slot’s side won 3-2 against the Saints in a game where Salah scored twice to take his league tally to 10 so far this season.
It leaves Liverpool top of the Premier League with an eight-point lead over rivals Manchester City who sit in second place after losing five games in a row.

After the game, Salah spoke out about his ongoing contract negotiations with Liverpool as his deal expires in June. He said on Sky Sports that he is “probably more out than in” at the club and that he hasn’t been offered a new deal yet.
Slot spoke in his Tuesday press conference ahead of their Champions League clash with Real Madrid responding to Salah’s comments. The Liverpool boss said: “If you had been at the training ground today, no one spoke about it at least when I was there. Players are also focused on the short-term. That is Real Madrid and City.
“I don’t think there is any distraction for him, the players and definitely not for me. When I look at my line-ups Mo [Salah] is more in than out. That quote I can give you.”
Saudi Pro League interest emerged for Liverpool man Salah
Mohammed Salah has unsurprisingly been subject to transfer interest after being one of the best attackers in recent Premier League history.
Recent reports have emerged suggesting that there is fresh interest in Salah from the Saudi Pro League after Liverpool rejected a bid from Al Ittihad which was reported by BBC Sport to be worth £150m.
If Salah is to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, there could be more moves from Saudi-based clubs to try and secure his signature. Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s contracts are also set to expire at the end of the season.
