Gambler Moyes Caught in Foxes-Toffees Tug-of-War

Former West Ham United manager [David Moyes](https://www.claretandhugh.info/david-moyes-bio/) faces a tricky dilemma after being named one of the favourites for the Leicester City managerial job.

Steve Cooper was sacked by the Foxes at the weekend, and Moyes is second favourite with the bookmakers to take the position, behind Graham Potter.

Despite what many believe, the Scotsman will likely be eager to get back to work. Leicester City are not in the relegation zone and stand a solid chance of remaining in the [Premier League](https://www.claretandhugh.info/premier-league-bio/) under the right leadership.

Ordinarily, the former **West Ham** boss might jump at such an opportunity, but there’s a suspicion he could be holding out for the Everton job.

The Toffees travel to Old Trafford on Sunday for a crucial clash that may determine Sean Dyche’s future. Should Dyche win, it’s likely he will stay in the Goodison Park dugout until at least the New Year. However, if he loses, he could face the sack, whilst a draw might grant him a reprieve until Everton’s next match against Wolves.

For Moyes, the situation resembles a spin of the roulette wheel. He might prefer to wait for the fallout of the upcoming round of fixtures. Unfortunately for him, Leicester are unlikely to grant him that much time to decide. They would understandably move on to another candidate if the former Hammers manager hesitates.

Moyes will be acutely aware that accepting the Leicester role could mean watching the Everton position open up within days. Conversely, if Everton manage a result against Manchester United and remain above the relegation zone, Moyes could find himself out of work entirely.

It’s a nice problem to have but undoubtedly a tricky decision for Moyesie.
