West Ham United have been handed what appears to be a boost for their Premier League clash against Chelsea as the game has now been moved to Monday, 3 February.

As per West Ham Football via X [27 November], the game is being pushed back from its previous date of Saturday, 1 February.

The Hammers have won eight of their last nine top-flight clashes on a Monday, with the only exception to this record coming against Arsenal on 26 December, 2022 (Opta).

Julen Lopetegui’s men have been under plenty of pressure this term due to their poor performances, but they may have turned a corner with the 2-0 win at Newcastle United this week – also a Monday.

While this fixture change obviously doesn’t mean West Ham are guaranteed to beat Enzo Maresca’s men, it certainly seems like it now plays a lot more in their favour.

Julen Lopetegui doesn’t have long to save his West Ham United job

This season one of the main talking points that have emerged from the London Stadium is whether the Spaniard has done enough to warrant David Sullivan keeping him in his role.

The Hammers currently sit 14th in the Premier League table but have managed to make a decent six-point cushion between themselves and the drop zone.

While 14th place might not seem all that bad, when it’s taken into account that last season under David Moyes the club finished ninth in the table and were pushing for the European places, it shows the fall from grace the club have undergone this term.

While fixture changes often don’t mean all that much, it’s likely that fans will take any sort of advantage possible when facing a team of Chelsea’s calibre.

Only time will tell whether Lopetegui can do enough to keep his spot in the Hammers’ set-up, but if he continues to pull out wins like their most recent victory over Newcastle, he could well be in the money.

In other West Ham news, Troy Deeney has dubbed a Hammers ace as an “absolute monster” after their clash against the Magpies.
