£60m star won't end up at Nottingham Forest, partly because of Chris Wood - journalist

Nottingham Forest find themselves looking at the January transfer window in the hope of strengthening to aid their European push.

Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi have been tasked with leading the line for Nottingham Forest so far this season, and it’s been a mixed bag.

The New Zealand international has taken the Premier League by storm, scoring an impressive eight goals in 12 games for the Reds.

However, the same can’t be said about Awoniyi. He has just 169 minutes under his belt in the Premier League and is yet to score any goals.

However, it appears as if one striker who recently came on the market ahead of January won’t be an option for Nottingham Forest.

Evan Ferguson won’t be joining Nottingham Forest

£60m valued Evan Ferguson has been made available for loan in January by Brighton (as per Telegraph).

Speaking exclusively to Nottingham Forest News, Graeme Bailey has stated that Brighton won’t want to send Ferguson to Nottingham Forest given the options they already have.

“I don’t think Ferguson is in Forest’s thinking, but if he was they’d have to do one of those deals (Ward-Prowse or Moreno) or cancel one of those deals, which isn’t in their thinking at the minute.

“I’m not sure Brighton would want to send him there, because he won’t get in ahead of Chris Wood.

“I don’t see Forest being a part of the conversations really, Forest are one of the clubs who don’t need Evan Ferguson, and the reason Brighton are sending him out is to get game time.”

Would Evan Ferguson even get in at Forest?

Evan Ferguson has jut one goal to his name in seven appearances for Brighton this season.

There’s no doubting he has plenty of talent and potential, but he’s yet to really have a blow up season and there may be doubts over just how prolific he can be.

When you look at Chris Wood’s return and form this season, you struggle to see where he could even get the required minutes at Forest.

Plus, it’s unlikely Forest will want to spend the money to sign Alex Moreno permanently in the summer, and James Ward-Prowse will no doubt be given more of a chance to prove himself.
