Leicester City chairman Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha has confronted the squad over the images of their Christmas party in Copenhagen, according to reports.
The City players were pictured partying in the Danish capital on Saturday night, a few hours after their defeat to Chelsea and a few hours before Steve Cooper was sacked. A video showed the players laughing when a sign was held up at the Museo nightclub emblazoned with the words: ‘Enzo, I miss you’, seemingly in reference to the club’s former manager, Enzo Marecsa.
While the Christmas party was approved and the timing unfortunate, the Telegraph report that Top was disappointed by the incident and told the players it belied the family image the club have created. He is also said to have admonished the players over their performances and accused them of letting down Cooper, who was dismissed on Sunday just 12 Premier League fixtures into his reign. The club have been approached for comment.
The City squad often head to Copenhagen for their Christmas party and with a week before their next game, it was seen as the right time to organise the event. The players returned to training on Tuesday, where they have been under the guidance of first-team coach Ben Dawson.
The club are back in action on Saturday, taking on Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium, where they are increasingly likely to have an interim coaching team in charge. They will start the game in 16th place, one point clear of the relegation zone.
