Gareth Bale and Rio Ferdinand had their say on Mohamed Salah's contract situation at Liverpool
Gareth Bale and Rio Ferdinand both believe that Mohamed Salah's recent comments on his Liverpool contract are a way of 'asking for more money'.
Salah revealed on Sunday that he has not yet been formally offered a new deal. The ECHO understands talks with his agent, Ramy Abbas, are ongoing.
However, after his match-winning brace against Southampton last weekend, Salah admitted he was "disappointed" at not being offered a renewal yet. "I haven't received any offers yet to stay in the club, [so] I'm probably more out than in,” he said. "I'm disappointed but we will see."
Salah's words have split opinion in the football world with Jamie Carragher insisting the comments were disrespectful to the club. However, ahead of the Reds' Champions League clash with Real Madrid, both Ferdinand and Bale insisted there wasn't much wrong with it.

“I think the big thing is, I don’t think he’s been out of order," Ferdinand said. "I said this last night on the show, he hasn’t been disrespectful, he just stated some facts.
“I think you look at it, and as team-mates, that’s all you worry and care about, 'is he still with us?' Mo Salah is scoring goals week in and week out, and he wants to be here. It sounds like he wants to stay, but for a bit more money.”
Bale said: "We [players] never really bring those things into conversation. I can't imagine it's going to affect anybody, it'll be for people upstairs to sort out with his agent. I'm sure he's just making noise to get more money to be honest."
