Chelsea have been linked in the transfer rumour mill with a Premier League attacker, but they believe he’s currently overpriced.
It’s common knowledge that it’s cost a fortune to assemble the current Chelsea squad. Finally, Enzo Maresca is the head coach starting to get a tune out of the super young group.
Interestingly, the Blues continue to be linked with potential transfer targets to improve the squad even further.
Chelsea may have a supersized transfer budget next season, but one of their targets is deemed too costly right now.

Chelsea want Newcastle to cut down Alexander Isak price tag
According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea and Arsenal are both interested in signing Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.
It is explained that Premier League outfit Newcastle are demanding a mega £115m price tag to sell Isak. Also, the 25-year-old striker isn’t expected to try force a way out of St James’ Park.
The report adds that both Chelsea and Arsenal won’t match Isak’s £115m valuation, but they’re aiming to knock £35m off the price and cut it down to £80m.
In 79 Newcastle appearances across all competitions, Isak has scored 40 goals and created seven assists. It’s no real surprise to see the Sweden international rated so highly by his club.

Troy Deeney predicts Isak could join Chelsea at some point in the future, labelling him a “natural finisher”. However, Gabriel Agbonlahor thinks Isak would suit Arsenal and their style of play.
Alan Shearer described Isak as “sensational” via the Premier League’s official website last season, and he’s certainly good enough to play for any of the elite sides in the country.
Nicolas Jackson vs Alexander Isak
Chelsea are currently putting trust in Nicolas Jackson as their first-choice striker, so how does he compare with Isak?

Alexander Isak 10 (10) 4 2 10 75.0% 25.0% 6

Based solely off performances this season, Jackson has the edge over Isak. The Newcastle frontman has been performing at a consistently higher level in the last couple of years, though.
If Jackson continues to develop and impress in the Chelsea XI, there’s an argument to be made that he could be the long-term answer in the No.9 role.
