Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has admitted that Frenkie de Jong is still some way off his best form after returning from a long spell out with an ankle injury.
De Jong has now made nine appearances this season for Barca [but still looks a long way short of his best at present](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2024/11/18/24299395/frenkie-de-jong-returns-early-to-barcelona-after-withdrawing-from-netherlands-squad).
Flick said after the win over Brest in the Champions League that the club are working hard to try and get the best out of De Jong.
> “De Jong is working very hard to get back to his best level. He’s not 100%, but we’re working on it and he will. I am happy that the other midfielders are playing well,” he told reporters.

> “We will try to get De Jong back to the best physical level, we are all working on it.”
The Dutchman was whistled by some sections of the Barca support on Tuesday night as he came on for the final few minutes against Brest.
De Jong’s future is also the subject of much debate once again. It’s been reported he’s been offered a new contract but is yet to respond to the club.
