Liverpool 'learn Omar Marmoush asking price' as Arsenal hold talks to seal transfer

Omar Marmoush of Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt have reportedly set an asking price of £42million on Liverpool-linked star Omar Marmoush. The talented attacker has been a standout performer in the Bundesliga so far this season and has sparked transfer links around Europe and the Premier League.

Amid uncertainty over the future of Mohamed Salah, there have been suggestions that the 25-year-old could replace the record-breaking Liverpool legend. Salah, who is out of contract in the summer, revealed it has been 'disappointing' that the club have not yet offered him a new deal.

"Well, we are almost in December and I haven't received any offers yet to stay in the club, [so] I'm probably more out than in," he conceded. "Of course [no offer is disappointing]. I'm just trying to enjoy my football and I will play at the top level as long as possible. I'm just doing my best because this is who I am and I try to give it all for myself and for the club. We will see what happens next."

Reports in Germany continue to link Salah's Egypt teammate Marmoush as a potential replacement. Although Frankfurt are keen to extend Marmoush's contract, German newspaper Bild suggests this will not impact Liverpool's hopes of signing him.

It's said the Bundesliga club have settled on a £42million (€50m) asking price to part company with the Egypt international.

Elsewhere, Arsenal have reportedly held 'talks' with Liverpool-linked Adam Wharton over a potential transfer. Caught Offside reports the Londoners are 'prepared' to make a move for the Crystal Palace midfielder in January.

It's said the England international is open to leaving Selhurst Park and is also believed to be on the radar of Manchester City. Arsenal meanwhile, are hopeful of getting a deal done for somewhere in the region of £45m (€55m), but it's said Palace would ask for a higher fee in the region of £54m.

Arsenal are thought to be prioritising strengthening their midfield options in the new year and also have former Reds target Martin Zubimendi on their shortlist.
