Manchester United will be targeting a first victory of the Ruben Amorim era when they host Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League tonight.

The Reds have won just one of their four Europa League matches this season, drawing the other three, meaning they could really do with a win tonight to boost their chances of automatically qualifying for the knockout phase.

United won their last Europa League outing, beating PAOK 2-0, and will be looking to win back-to-back games in Europe for the first time since beating Real Betis home and away in March 2023. Regarding the team news, Amorim has confirmed Lisandro Martinez is back in contention but that the game will come too soon for Harry Maguire.

Our United writers have had their say on how they think the Reds should line up for Amorim's Old Trafford debut.

Samuel Luckhurst

United need a complete change-up in midfield with Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte back in. Luke Shaw has not started a club game for more than nine months and this week is an opportunity to give him more minutes. Martinez has got to start getting up to speed in a back three.

Amad deserves to start and this time as one of the two behind the striker. Marcus Rashford's goal against Ipswich ensures he continues, as does the ineptitude of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee during their cameos.

Four changes

Tyrone Marshall

Amorim will have a few more players to pick from today, not just as a result of the fitness situation improving, but those players who only returned late from international duty as well. It doesn't sound like Martinez is ready to start, but I would make a change in the back three, bringing Shaw in for Evans.

At wing-back, Amad can continue on the right but it's worth trying Alejandro Garnacho on the left in a game United should be dominating. Ugarte and Casemiro can provide some stability in the centre of the pitch.

I'd also bring Mason Mount in alongside Fernandes in one of those 10 roles, with Amad and Garnacho making it five attackers. Hojlund can start as the focal point of the attack ahead of Rashford.

Martinez should start if he is deemed fit enough. If he isn't ready, I would like to see Shaw start on the left of the back three, joining forces with Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt.

Kobbie Mainoo and Ugarte should end up forming Amorim's first-choice midfield partnership and there is no time like the present to unleash them as a duo. Both have the capacity to be important to Amorim.

Hojlund deserves the opportunity to start at the tip of the attack and attempt to get back among the goals in a game United are expected to dominate. He should be supported by Rashford and Fernandes.
