Ruud van Nistelrooy has reached a full agreement to be the new Leicester City manager, sources have told Football Insider.
The recently-departed Man United interim boss will be appointed immediately as the permanent successor to Steve Cooper at the King Power Stadium.
Football Insider first revealed on Tuesday morning that Van Nistelrooy was in talks to take over at the King Power, and had supplanted Graham Potter and David Moyes as the favourite for the vacant post.
Now, the Dutchman, 48, has agreed terms with Leicester and is assembling his backroom staff ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Brentford.
He could be joined by former colleagues from Old Trafford at the east Midlands outfit.
Van Nistelrooy may not be in the dugout for that game, with Leicester caretaker manager Ben Dawson, part of Cooper’s backroom staff, poised to lead the side.

Ruud van Nistelrooy set to take over at Leicester City after latest update
Cooper was officially dismissed from his role on 24 November in the wake of a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea, with a statement issued via the club’s website.
Football Insider then exclusively revealed that the decision had come following an owner-led dressing room inquest in which several influential players were heavily critical of the boss’ tactics.
However, after a successful interim spell at Man United following Erik ten Hag’s exit, Van Nistelrooy was quickly identified as a leading candidate to replace him.
Out-of-work managers Potter and Moyes had previously been tipped as the favourites to take over, but have now been beaten to the post after successful talks.
The Dutchman boasts an impressive CV despite his short time in management, having led PSV Eindhoven to win the 2022 Johan Cruyff Shield and the 2022-23 KNVB Cup before resigning from the position.

Former Man United assistant manager Mick Brown previously told Football Insider that Van Nistelrooy has “all the right attributes” to become a top boss in the future.
Sources say he was always keen to remain in England, having also applied for the Coventry City job following Mark Robins’ shock departure.
