One Chelsea legend is set to be back in a job this week and report suggest that he could even start as soon as this coming Saturday.
As the next set of fixtures approach, Blues legend Frank Lampard could well be in the Coventry dugout this coming Saturday!
EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea stepping up pursuit of Premier League striker – not Evan Ferguson!
Lampard has been out of work since ending his second spell at Stamford Bridge in May 2023 but is the frontrunner to succeed Mark Robins at the Ricoh Arena, the PA news agency reports. They claim Lampard is set to get the role and If a deal is agreed, Lampard could be in charge for Saturday’s clash with Cardiff.
Lampard is a Chelsea legend and will go down in most Blues fans top 5 players of all time. His managerial experience at the club didn’t go quite as well, despite the first spell actually starting well and looking like it could at one point be a success.
Dropping down a league is smart

Lampard back in the dugout soon?
Lampard obviously had his best spell as a manager so far when he was at Derby County in the Championship, and then perhaps he tried to aim too high and took on too much too soon.
I think that dropping back down a division and perhaps starting again as such, is the best possible move for Lampard, and Coventry are a decent club to come in and manage at. I’d imagine that he should get a lot of support and backing in the transfer market as well, and the fans should take to him.
Ultimately, football is all about results, so the pressure will be on Lampard from day one. But his stature and who he is should demand the respect of Championship players and I truly hope he gets a tune out of them and has a successful time there to progress as a manager.
