Following the impressive 2-0 victory over Real Madrid at Anfield, Liverpool now shift their focus to the upcoming biggest clash with Manchester City. However, two injury concerns have emerged, with Conor Bradley suffering a hamstring injury late in the match and Ibrahima Konaté requiring treatment after the final whistle.
In his post-match comments, Arne Slot provided an initial update on the fitness of both his centre-back and right-back.
"They have pain"- Arne Slot provides latest update on Liverpool injuries ahead of Manchester City clash.
With Trent Alexander-Arnold only recently returning from a two-and-a-half-week absence due to a hamstring injury, the concerns over Konaté and Bradley’s fitness could complicate matters ahead of Sunday’s clash with Manchester City. Arne Slot acknowledged that it is “difficult to judge” at this stage whether either player will be fit for the high-stakes match.
No updates yet for the injuries
Slot is hopeful that Alexander-Arnold will be available to replace Bradley, while Joe Gomez or Jarell Quansah could step in for Konate at centre-back, should either be unavailable.
However, much depends on the fitness of Liverpool’s vice-captain, especially considering Slot didn’t call upon him from the bench when Bradley was forced off. With three days left to train and recover before facing Manchester City, Liverpool should have players ready to “step up” if needed. Slot expressed uncertainty about the extent of Konate and Bradley’s injuries, acknowledging the challenges of assessing them so soon after the match, but remains optimistic both will be fit to play.
Speaking on the post-match presser via YouTube, The gaffer displayed his concern
“No. Not yet,” he replied when asked if he knew the extent of their injuries.
“I know where they have pain but it’s difficult to judge so close after the game.
“This is what happens in the season. This happens.
“I’m really hoping both of them are available to play [Sunday] but if not, somebody else has to step up and so far everybody has stepped up so far this season.”
