Leicester City are close to appointing Ruud van Nistelrooy as Leicester City manager.
The Foxes decided to sack Steve Cooper on Sunday evening after a 2-1 loss to Chelsea 24 hours prior.
The 46-year-old won just two league games during his time in charge of the club, leaving them firmly in a relegation battle ahead of the hectic festive period.
Following Cooper’s exit, the Midlands outfit have been linked with a host of names, including Ruud van Nistelrooy.
The Dutchman has been out of work for a few weeks after leaving his role as interim manager of Manchester United.
Now, report have suggested that Van Nistelrooy will become the new Leicester manager on Thursday.
The former striker is expected to take charge of the Foxes for their upcoming meeting with Brentford.

Martin Keown has doubted incoming Leicester City manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy
After news emerged that the former PSV coach will be stepping into the dugout at the King Power Stadium, Leicester fans made their feelings on Van Nistelrooy clear.
The majority of the Foxes faithful seem happy at his impending arrival but one former player has already cast doubt over Van Nistelrooy’s coaching ability.
Martin Keown, who has a long rivalry with the soon-to-be Leicester man from their time as players, hit out at the coach back in September, as per the Manchester Evening News.
Keown questioned Van Nistelrooy’s mentality, asking if he was giving everything to Erik ten Hag.
He said: “I’m looking at Van Nistelrooy, is he giving everything to this manager?”
“Are we committed to the manager? Doesn’t look like the players or staff are particularly committed. They took away his management team around him, he is a lone man in the dugout.”
“Did anyone see Xabi Alonso on Saturday? He’s down there stitching in information, everyone is adding to the group. I’m not seeing that from Van Nistelrooy.
“Well I don’t think he’s giving enough to the group so Ten Hag is just sitting there, not a lot is going on, no conversation. Pep speaks to the gurus next to him, chatting away. “Is everyone looking in the mirror giving their best?”

Ruud van Nistelrooy managerial record
While Keown is doubting his mentality as a coach already, Van Nistelrooy does have a decent record as a manager.
Granted, he is pretty inexperienced compared to some of the other options linked to Leicester in the last few days.
But he enjoyed a very furitil season with PSV in 2022/23, which saw him complete a cup double with the Eredvise outfit.
His time in charge of the Red Devils, though brief, was decent as well, doing the double over Leicester in the Carabao Cup and Premier League.
