West Ham United director Daniel Kretinsky is expected to complete his buyout of Royal Mail in the next two weeks, the BBC have said.
BBC sources close to the deal reported on 27 November that the sale to Kretinsky’s EP Group is close to being finalised after the Hammers board member made “extra concessions” in order to seal the buyout.
The deal remains subject to approval via the National Security and Insurance Act, with Kretinsky having first agreed an sale with parent company International Distribution Services back in May [The Guardian].
Kretinsky’s takeover, valued at £3.6billion, has been recommended by IDS to its shareholders, and the approval of a “sufficient” number of those shareholders will see the deal go ahead.

Daniel Kretinsky has been a key shareholder at West Ham United since 2021
Since coming on board at the London Stadium in 2021, the Irons have been regulars in Europe and won the UEFA Conference League in 2023, showing that their ambitions are now at a much higher level.
The 49-year-old’s wealth reflects that, and although David Sullivan still calls most of the shots in claret and blue, Kretinsky’s Royal Mail buyout shows that he is firmly invested in the London market.
The only market West Ham will be concerned with is that of transfers, and having spent well over £100million in the summer, fans will hope Kretinsky’s backing can help take them to the next level.
