Liverpool secured a well-deserved 2-0 win against Real Madrid at Anfield.
The Reds were often told that they had a very easy start to the season. Many people were discrediting their position in the table because of the favourable fixtures.
In the Champions League on Wednesday night, Liverpool faced a big test against the most successful team in the competition’s history, and they came out on top.
A lot was said about Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of the game against Real Madrid. The defender was an unused substitute.
What Jamie Carragher said about Trent Alexander-Arnold and Real Madrid after Liverpool win
Real Madrid have been heavily linked with a move to sign Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer in 2025.
The Englishman has not extended his contract at Liverpool, and as things stand, he will be able to sign for a foreign club on a pre-contract in January.
That is the reason why there was a lot of talk about Alexander-Arnold before Real Madrid faced Liverpool on Wednesday night.
The defender, who is only just coming back from an injury, was left on the bench by Arne Slot, who chose Conor Bradley instead.
It was expected to be a tough test for the 21-year-old, but he performed magnificently against Kylian Mbappe and completely shut him down.
Thierry Henry raved about Bradley’s performance against Real Madrid, and Jamie Carragher was blown away by him too.
The Reds legend was so impressed that he claimed that he’s not sure if the right-back Real Madrid want to sign from Liverpool is Alexander-Arnold or young Bradley.
Henry, who was standing right in front of him, was shocked.
“Coming into this game, there’s been a lot of talk about Real Madrid looking to buy Liverpool’s right back. But, I’m not sure if that player is called Trent Alexander-Arnold or Conor Bradley,” Carragher said on CBS Sports.
A surprised Henry replied: “Wow!”
What Conor Bradley told Ibrahima Konate after getting injured
Everything was going to plan for Liverpool against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.
The Reds were comfortably winning the game 2-0 and could’ve easily scored more. They were absolutely the better side and the victory was never in doubt.
Just as Liverpool fans were getting ready to celebrate, Bradley went down with an injury. He had to come off the pitch in the 87th minute of the game.
TNT Sports commentator Darren Fletcher had his eyes on the young right-back, and he spotted what he told Ibrahima Konate about his injury.
“It’s his hamstring, he has just said that to Ibrahima Konate,” Fletcher said, as per Rousing the Kop.
