Aston Villa ‘chasing star’, send official on transfer mission – ‘Small change’ deal there to be done

Aston Villa have set their sights on 1. FSV Mainz 05’s Nadiem Amiri, according to Bild.

Their title says the English club are ‘chasing this Bundesliga star’ and only Aston Villa are mentioned within the report.

The midfielder has been a regular for Mainz this season, making 12 appearances in all competitions. He’s been a key figure at the German club and his impressive displays have caught the attention of the Villans.

This information is provided by Bild journalist Christian Falk during Englische Woche. He claims Aston Villa sent a scout to follow the 28-year-old live in action in his side’s 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund earlier this month.

Amiri has a contract lasting until 2028 and the report states the Bundesliga side would consider selling him for €10m. It’s claimed the fee is ‘small change’ for Unai Emery’s side, without specifying whether they are willing to make an offer in this region.

A move to the Premier League will help him ‘step onto a bigger stage’. The player hasn’t received a call up from Germany since 2020 and wants to return to the national team squad.

Bild state Amiri could regain his place in the Germany squad if he were to join Aston Villa.
