“You don’t win the Champions League now” – Luka Modric calm after Real Madrid’s defeat at Liverpool

Real Madrid’s defence of their Champions League title has not got off to the best start. Carlo Ancelotti’s side have already lost three times in the league phase, with the latest coming against Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Los Blancos have had a very challenging season up until now, and especially in European football’s premier competition. However, there is still a long way to go before trophies are decided upon, which was the point made by Luka Modric after the defeat at Anfield, as per Marca.

“I think we’re in a good dynamic, especially in La Liga after winning the last two games. But we have to continue on that path in the Champions League. We know we have to improve and we are going to do it, we must not have a single doubt. It’s hard to have lost three games already, but you don’t win the Champions League now. We have confidence in ourselves.”

There is undoubtedly a lot of football to be played between now and June, and Real Madrid are more than capable of bouncing back. However, they do need to buck up their ideas very soon, especially in the Champions League as it is not guaranteed that they will reach the knockout stages.
