Andy Robertson lifts lid on Liverpool dressing room reaction to Jamie Carragher's Mohamed Salah …

Andy Robertson has revealed that Jamie Carragher has been on the receiving end of some friendly fire in the Liverpool dressing room this week, following his critique of Mohamed Salah. The defender's admission came during a light-hearted conversation with Carragher after Liverpool's 2-0 victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Earlier in the week, Carragher had labelled Salah as "selfish" for voicing his disappointment over Liverpool's delay in offering him a new contract. Salah had confessed to being "more out than in" amid the absence of an offer.

According to the ECHO, Salah is keen to remain at Liverpool and discussions with his agent, Ramy Abbas, are still underway. However, no agreement has been reached yet.

Carragher, who expressed his eagerness for Salah to extend his contract, was not pleased with the timing of his remarks. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "I must say I am very disappointed with Salah. In the seven years he's been at the football club, he stopped in the mixed zone twice.

"Which is his right and is absolutely fine. But he decided to stop for the third time away at Southampton on the back of winning Liverpool the game and putting that out.

"Now, the most important thing for Liverpool this season is not the future of Salah. It's not the future of Virgil van Dijk and it's not the future of Trent Alexander-Arnold. The most important thing is Liverpool winning the Premier League - that is more important than any of those players.

"If he continues to put comments out or his agent keeps putting cryptic tweets out, that's selfish. That's thinking about themselves and not the football club."

After Liverpool's victory over Real Madrid, Carragher found himself in the spotlight during a CBS post-match interview with Robertson.

When quizzed on the team's reaction to his outspoken critique, Robertson couldn't help but chuckle as he admitted: "He's been getting a bit of stick in the changing room that's for sure! "

Pressed for more details, Robertson added: "No comment, I think I'll leave that! "

Nevertheless, he acknowledged Carragher's role as an analyst, noting: "I think he [Carragher] gets paid to do his job, I think you all do. It's part and parcel of football, he has to give his opinion and whether we agree with it or not, sometimes, is a different story."
