Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has dismissed reports that the club are planning to send Ireland striker Evan Ferguson out on loan in the January window.

Ferguson has gone through a tough spell in his career with the Seagulls. Since returning from surgery last April after an ankle injury, his fitness and the competition for places has limited him to just one Premier League start.

That led to a claim earlier this week that the club were planning to loan out Ferguson when the transfer window opens to allow him get game time and build up his fitness, with no suggestion that they intended to let him leave on a permanent deal.

But today, manager Hurzeler poured cold water on that claim and insisted they wanted the Ireland star to remain where he is.

"I don't know from where this information comes because I said to Evan that I'm happy he is here and how he is training, what shape he is in physically and mentally,” Hurzeler said today.
