Calm as player’s upturn suggests he’ll be staying at Celtic for full season

Alex Valle did well for Celtic against Club Brugge in the Champions League yesterday.

The 20-year-old left-back got himself an assist in the game, helping the Hoops to a 1-1 draw at home. It was his fourth assist in all competitions for Celtic, where he is spending his second consecutive loan stint from Barcelona.

His previous stint came at Spanish side Levante but his growth is quite evident in Scotland. Sport in Spain have looked at how that development is taking place without Valle actually being an undisputed starter for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

They praise how he has grown in stature even if he was on the bench for the last three games in the Scottish Premiership.

Valle’s performances have led to Barcelona monitoring his progress, especially because the defender had impressed Hansi Flick in pre-season. It was the left-back who made the decision to seek more game time in a loan stint and the club wants to make sure he gets that.

Sport, a Catalan newspaper, are looking to calm worries Valle hasn’t been getting enough prominence and they believe he’ll be staying at Celtic for the season rather than being recalled.
