Pedri has time and again showed this season why he is regarded as one of the best midfielders in the game with stellar performances for FC Barcelona.
The Spanish international put on another masterclass earlier this week in the UEFA Champions League against Brest as Barça came away with a comfortable win.
The display once again highlighted Pedri’s exemplary qualities and why the Blaugrana are eager to tie him down to a new long-term contract.
Renewal in sight
Now, Mundo Deportivo reports that the latest discussions with Pedri’s representative have generated optimism, and Barcelona believe they are on the right path with regard to his renewal.
Indeed, sources within the club have expressed positive sentiments, and there is confidence that an extension of the contract will be announced soon following the recent talks.
Pedri’s current contract runs until June 2026, meaning he would enter the final year of his deal at the end of the season. And, Barcelona’s plan is to extend his deal by an additional five years, taking it through to June 2030.

The most recent discussions between the two sides took place earlier this week, specifically on Tuesday, the day of the match against Brest. And the feelings are very positive, with the renewal understood to be very close.
Following the game against Brest, Pedri opened up on his contract situation, and said:
“I don’t know anything, but I always say that I’m doing very well here and I’ll talk to my agent.
“There are still many years ahead of me, but I have always said that this is the club where I want to stay forever. I don’t know anything about today’s meeting.”
Pedri’s last renewal took place in 2021, a year after he arrived at the club. Since then, he has firmly established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world, becoming a key figure both at Barcelona and for the Spanish national team.
