Ruud van Nistelrooy is close to being appointed as the new Leicester City manager.
Reports on Wednesday revealed that Van Nistelrooy will become the Leicester manager, replacing Steve Cooper, who was sacked last weekend.
The Premier League icon was one of the best strikers in the league back in the day and will have a top flight legend among his ranks.
Jamie Vardy may be 37 but is still scoring goals and the day of Van Nistelrooy’s pending appointment coincides with a record-breaking night for the Foxes legend.

Jamie Vardy broke Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Premier League record nine years ago today
Take your mind back to nine years ago on this day where Leicester were facing Manchester United.
Going into the game, Vardy had equalled his soon-to-be boss’ record of scoring in 10 consecutive league games.
Against United, Vardy would break that very record, latching onto Christian Fuchs’ defence-splitting pass that saw him sprint past Matteo Darmian and slot the ball past David De Gea.

Ruud van Nistelrooy sends message to Jamie Vardy after record-breaking goal
It seems fate that Van Nistelrooy will now go on to become Vardy’s manager and one thing you can guarantee between the two is respect.
After his imminent new number nine broke his record, Van Nistelrooy posted a message to the 37-year-old on his Instagram, saying: “Well done @vardy7! You’re number one now and you deserved it.”
Vardy is the Foxes’ current joint-top scorer this season and is showing no signs of slowing down.
Having a good connection with a new manager is always a positive and, if it clicks quickly, it could be the catalyst to kickstart Leicester’s survival campaign.
