Mbappe has struggled to live up to expectations since signing for Madrid.
Kylian Mbappe's start to life at Real Madrid certainly hasn't gone as expected, with the Frenchman struggling to live up to expectations since joining the Spanish giants.
Mbappe, 25, made the controversial decision to leave PSG in the summer at the end of his contract, joining European and Spanish champions Real Madrid on a free transfer.
However, his arrival at the Bernabeu hasn't had the desired impact, with Madrid struggling this season under Carlo Ancelotti.
His side are already four points behind bitter rivals Barcelona in the La Liga table, while a damaging 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday night has dented their hopes of progressing to the next round.
Fifteen-time champions Madrid have picked up just six points from their opening five games in Europe and find themselves down in 24th place in the table, with just three games remaining in the league phase.
Mbappe saw a penalty saved in the defeat to Liverpool and had further chances to score limited by young Reds defender Conor Bradley.
The Spanish media have been critical of Mbappe's performances in recent months, given the huge cost of bringing the Frenchman to the Bernabeu.
How much did Mbappe cost Madrid?
While Mbappe didn't cost Madrid a transfer fee, the Spanish club gave him a massive £128m signing-on fee to join from PSG to be paid over five years, according to the BBC.
He has already earned around £12.8m of this bonus payment, based on the length of time he's been with the club – although it has not been confirmed how often the winger will receive bonus payments, other than that they are spread out over the course of his five-year deal.
Mbappe is also reportedly on wages of around £250,000 per week in the Spanish capital.

He has been with Madrid for just under 26 weeks, having joined at the start of June – meaning he has earned around £6,375,000 in wages since signing for the club.
Combining his presumed signing-on bonus fee to this point and his weekly wages, Mbappe is estimated to have earned around £16.4m since joining Madrid.
So far, he has scored nine goals in 18 matches for Madrid, meaning he has potentially cost the club as much as £1.8m per goal scored.
