West Ham ace Guido Rodriguez has told those closest to him that his “desire” is to return to Real Betis in the January transfer window, according to InfoRealBetis.
The Spanish outlet reported via their website on 26 November that a move for the Argentina international would be difficult to sanction due to Betis’ unwillingness to spend any money on the midfielder, who left the club for the Hammers on a free transfer this summer.
The report does, however, add that the Hammers would allow him to leave if a suitable deal can be agreed upon.
West Ham should give Lewis Orford a chance over Guido Rodriguez
Since the start of the season, it’s been made evident that Julen Lopetegui’s midfield is the weakest area of his squad.
West Ham’s midfield may be solid defensively but in terms of agility and pace, the Hammers are severely lacking.

There have been plenty of times this season when the 2022 World Cup winner has been singled out due to a poor performance and has failed to prove his worth to his new club.
He made his name at Betis so it’s clear to see why he’d like to make a return, especially since he was one of their most important players last term.

The fact that the Hammers are likely only willing to allow him to leave for a fee worth around £2.5million, however, has cropped up to be a bit of a stumbling block.
Only time will tell what happens but one thing is for sure, a decision needs to be made soon.
