Aston Villa defender Matty Cash was seriously impressed by one of his teammates against Juventus.
Cash has labelled Emiliano Martinez as ‘unbelievable’ after the Villa goalkeeper made one of the saves of the season to preserve a clean sheet in the 0-0 draw with Juventus in the UEFA Champions League.
It was a fairly uneventful clash under the lights at Villa Park but Martinez still managed a standout moment, somehow clawing away Francisco Conceicao’s far-post header from the goalmouth. There were merely millimetres to spare as Martinez just about got to the ball in time, rescuing his teammates after they failed to deal with a corner.
Perhaps at fault given Conceicao peeled away from him, Cash was delighted by Martinez’s heroics. “Yeah, an unbelievable save. To be honest I did think it was in but yeah, unbelievable. That is what he is there for, he’s a goalie,” Cash said post-match.

Then, when asked whether he should be giving Martinez more credit, Cash added: “Nah! It was unbelievable. He does it every week, so it is not new for him to pull one out of the bag.”
Martinez has been so impressive over recent seasons that world-class saves have become somewhat of an expectation. This recent addition to an already stacked highlight reel comes at a fitting time as the World Cup winner recently scooped his second Yashin Trophy, an award he rightfully paraded around the Villa Park pitch before kick-off on Wednesday.
