A statistic no doubt set to pique the attentions of Barcelona fans the world over has come to the fore online.

This comes in the aftermath of arch rivals’ Real Madrid’s continental showdown with Liverpool on Wednesday.

Carlo Ancelotti’s troops made the trip to Anfield last night, for a highly-anticipated Champions League clash between two of the game’s leading clubs.

When all was said and done, it was hosts Liverpool who emerged triumphant, courtesy of a 2-0 scoreline on Merseyside.

This snapped what had been long-standing dominance on the part of Real Madrid against the Reds, with the former having not tasted defeat in any of the prior eight outings between the sides.

The last occasion on which Liverpool did best Los Blancos before Wednesday came all the way back in the 2008/09 campaign.

And this just so happens to have been a season in which the aforementioned Barcelona marched all the way to glory in the Champions League…
