West Ham loanee Callum Marshall scored his third goal of the season for Huddersfield but manager Michael Duff has requested more.

A loan move to League One has provided an excellent opportunity for Marshall to get used to senior football and stake a claim for his place back at West Ham.

With four goal contributions in 15 appearances, he has impressed, but not enough to satisfy Terriers boss Duff who demanded improvement from his forward line.

In quotes reported by Yorkshire Live (28 November), Duff said: “It might sound like pressure, it is pressure, we can’t keep relying on centre-halves to score goals from set plays to win us games. I know Callum’s scored a goal right at the end, which kills the game off, but there’s an expectancy, and at the minute it’s not quite landing.

“We’ve had loads of different combinations, but it’s not like they’re not trying. It’s trying to be a little bit more clinical because we’re not always going to come and create that many chances, it doesn’t matter who we play.”

West Ham should look to cash in on Callum Marshall

Overall, a loan move to Huddersfield has proved beneficial for the 20-year-old, but the very fact he is at that age makes any future at the London Stadium look bleak.

Marshall will not feature for West Ham anytime soon and a chance to cash in on him while his stock is somewhat high could be beneficial for both parties.

A permanent move away for him would likely benefit him massively, allowing him to find a home and really get his head down and concentrate on his football.

The Hammers undoubtedly need attacking reinforcement in January, but with Marshall already behind several other attackers who are underperforming, it is hard to picture a future for him at the club.

That said, if he can kick on for the Terriers and start finding the back of the net consistently, his next move could be one that sees him play at Championship level.
