West Ham United pulled off a shocking 2-0 victory over Newcastle United on Monday night.
Given the Hammers’ dismal performances before the international break, nobody expected them to come away from St James’ Park with a clean sheet and three points in the bag.
But West Ham produced an excellent display under Julen Lopetegui, and deservedly sealed maximum points from the contest after defending superbly and scoring two goals.
Lopetegui and his team now face another tough test in the Premier League, with Arsenal set to visit the London Stadium on Saturday.
However, the Irons appear to have received a huge boost ahead of the important game, as Jean-Calir Todibo could be available to play against the Gunners.
The centre-back limped off during Monday’s win at Newcastle, but the Daily Mail reports his injury is not serious and unlikely to keep him on the sidelines for long.
Todibo is said to be pushing to make himself available for the weekend derby.
The 24-year-old joined West Ham in the summer on a loan deal that includes an option to buy.
Todibo made a slow start to the season, but he has now established himself as a key member of the first-team.
The Frenchman has made 11 appearances in all competitions, with nine coming in the Premier League.
The Hammers’ fans will hope the defender is available against Arsenal, who are firing on all cylinders and expected to be very tough opponents.
