Nottingham Forest will make late calls on the fitness of three key players ahead of Saturday’s clash with Ipswich Town.
The Reds take on the Tractor Boys at the City Ground this weekend (3pm kick-off) looking to bounce back from successive defeats after losing to Newcastle United and Arsenal. They were without Morgan Gibbs-White (ankle) and Elliot Anderson (foot) for last Saturday’s 3-0 defeat away to the Gunners while Anthony Elanga was forced off at half-time with a shoulder problem.
Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo says all three will be assessed to determine whether they have a chance of being involved on the banks of the Trent. Meanwhile, midfielder Danilo is making good progress in recovering from the broken ankle he suffered on the opening day of the season.
“We still have tomorrow. We have to assess the players and see how they are,” Nuno said of Gibbs-White and Anderson. “Let’s see how they are tomorrow to see if they can help the team.
“They are improving. Danilo is also improving.”
After receiving treatment on the pitch, Elanga was initially able to continue after sustaining a knock in the first half at the Emirates Stadium. However, he was replaced at half-time by Jota Silva.
“The situation is the same,” Nuno said of Elanga. “We are still assessing him. He came off with a very painful situation but the doctors are taking care of him.”
