Concerns grow at Real Madrid over fitness coach’s methods amidst injury crisis

Real Madrid enjoyed no representation in the Spanish national team in the recent international break and it is astounding that the club has come to such a position.

The Merengues, after all, simply have no Spanish internationals barring Dani Carvajal in the squad – with Dani Ceballos and Fran Garcia not in the manager’s plans – and it is no secret that they are indirectly attempting to improve on that front.

The rise of Raul Asencio, thus, is a big positive for Los Blancos as he is showing great quality in his initial appearances at the top level.

While he was on the receiving end of a defeat last night, he still did well on his UCL debut.

Spain NT manager speaks

Speaking to the media earlier today, the Spanish national team manager Luis de La Fuente was asked about Real Madrid’s rising star and whether he would earn a call-up soon.

“He is a boy we had already monitored, he has been an international in different categories. But you have to give him time. We don’t want to go too fast rush things,” he said.

Elaborating on the optimism he had over Asencio’s profile, the manager said,

“Fortunately it is very good news for his club, for the player obviously, and for Spanish football, because as long as good future footballers join the cause, and he is, we are all in luck.”

De la Fuente then spoke on the young defender’s quality and maturity as seen in recent games, saying,

“I think he is fantastic, very good. Very complicated matches, where that type of footballer, at that age, show that they have packaging and that they have the quality to be able to perform at the level that is required in a Real Madrid.”

“Everyone celebrating it because it has more opportunities,” he added.
