Barcelona closely tracking the progress of young loanee with four assists – report

Alex Valle was one of many players who left Barcelona in the summer, in favour of a loan move elsewhere.

Although new coach Hansi Flick was impressed by the Spaniard’s progress during the pre-season, the player himself opted to join Celtic in order to gain regular game-time.

As we approach the halfway point of the campaign, Valle hasn’t disappointed either, emerging as one of Celtic’s top performers this season.

Valle’s superb performances at Celtic

After a slow start, Valle has already become an ever-present figure in Celtic’s defensive line, featuring in ten competitive matches so far.

During his time, the Spaniard has racked up four assists, with his most recent assist coming in the Champions League tie against Club Brugge.

Valle has impressed onlookers with his technical ability, which is coupled with his attacking prowess – making him a vital component in Brendan Rodgers’ unit.

Barcelona on red alert

Valle’s impressive performances at Celtic have not gone unnoticed, with his parent club Barcelona, in particular, keeping close tabs on the player.

That is according to SPORT, which suggests the Catalans are closely monitoring how the Spaniard’s game is evolving.

The club, after all, still value Valle highly due to his strong showing in pre-season. And with doubts creeping in over Gerard Martin, the club are also looking for a new backup to Alejandro Balde at left-back.

Although one would expect Valle to continue at Celtic, the Scottish giants do not have any option to purchase the player permanently. Not to mention, the club only invest in players they own permanently.

Celtic, therefore, may have no option but to approach Barcelona for a move next summer. But with the Catalans also keen on Valle’s services, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the fullback.
