The players with the most Champions League goals as Lewandowski passes 100

Robert Lewandowski celebrated a moment of history this week after reaching 100 goals in the Champions League.

Lewandowski scored twice in Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Brest, his 100th and 101st goals in Europe’s top club competition. The 36-year-old has become just the third player to achieve the feat, following in the footsteps of all-time greats Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Lewandowski boasts a better goal-per-game ratio in the competition than either Ronaldo or Messi, having averaged 0.81 goals per game in the Champions League during spells at Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Despite reaching the twilight of his career, he continues to fire. Lewandowski has 22 goals in just 19 games in all competitions for Barcelona this season.

The next-highest goalscorer still playing in European football is Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller, who has scored 54 times in the competition.

Kylian Mbappe (49) is also in the all-time top 10 scorers, while Manchester City’s Erling Haaland (46) needs just three more goals to break the top 10. He has scored an astonishing 46 goals in just 44 games in the Champions League.
