Real Madrid team bus crashes on M40 as emergency services rush to scene

The Real Madrid team bus was involved in a crash on the M40 in Warwickshire today, Thursday, November 28. A lorry, the coach and a car were involved in a collision and emergency services were called at around 1.15pm.

Traffic was initially halted between junction 16, near Hockley Heath, and junction 15, near Warwick, on the southbound carriageway. Video footage posted on social media showed the damaged coach behind a lorry.

No Real players were onboard the bus. It was reported that two drivers, a security member and travel manager had been on the bus at the time of the crash.

One person was understood to have suffered minor leg injuries. Madrid suffered a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League last night. It was reported that superstars, including former Blues star Jude Bellingham, were seen arriving at Anfield in the same plush coach yesterday.

In a statement, Warwickshire Police said: "Our officers responded to reports of a collision involving a car, a lorry, and the coach of a well-known football team on the M40 southbound between junction 16 for Hockley Heath and junction 15 for Warwick. Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured. The players from the well-known football team were not on the coach at the time.

"We have seen photos and videos of the collision on social media so we would like to remind people that it is illegal to take photos and videos while in control of a vehicle!"

Taking to X, National Highways West Midlands posted: "Traffic is stopped on the #M40 in #[Warwickshire](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/all-about/warwickshire) southbound between J16 near #HockleyHeath and J15 near #Warwick following a collision. Emergency services are in attendance. Delays of at least 45 minutes above normal travel times. Please allow extra time for your journey."

It later added: "Lanes 2 & 3 (of 3) have re-opened on the #M40 in #Warwickshire southbound between J16 near #HockleyHeath and J15 near #Warwick following a collision. Lane 1 remains closed. Delays of at least 45 minutes above normal travel times. Please allow extra time for your journey."
