Chelsea and other clubs who are interested in Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres may fear the prospect of him joining Manchester United.
Viktor Gyokeres has, of course, already worked under new United manager Ruben Amorim. So a move to Old Trafford may very well appeal to him.
In fact, it has been claimed that Manchester United are Gyokeres’ preference. That would be bad news for Chelsea, who have also been linked with the 26-year-old.
However, if United want to sign Gyokeres in January, there looks like there could be a problem.

What could prevent Viktor Gyokeres from joining Manchester United in January?
All of the noise coming out of Sporting suggests that they will not sell Gyokeres in January.
That does not come as a surprise, with the Swede being their talisman. He has already scored 24 goals in all competitions this season.
However, it has become common knowledge that Gyokeres has a €100m (£83.3m) release clause in his contract, so Sporting could be powerless to stop the Sweden international from leaving in January.
According to ESPN, though, United will struggle to raise the funds to sign Gyokeres in the winter transfer window because of PSR.

That is good news for Chelsea, with the same outlet claiming that they have been tracking the Sporting star for a while. If the Blues qualify for the Champions League and their Premier League rivals do not, that could help them to persuade Gyokeres to move to Stamford Bridge instead of Old Trafford next summer.
At the end of the season, Sporting could sell Gyokeres for less than his release clause.
Could Manchester City join Chelsea and Manchester United in the race for Viktor Gyokeres?
Chelsea and United’s Premier League rivals Manchester City already have Erling Haaland, who is arguably the best centre-forward in the world.
It would be a surprise if they decided to throw their hat into the ring for the former Coventry City man.
However, it is not impossible, with one source telling ESPN that City making a move for Gyokeres cannot be ruled out.
