West Ham Man Slammed by League One Boss

Premier League loanee Callum Marshall has been called out by Huddersfield Town boss Michael Duff despite scoring his third goal of the season after joining from West Ham United in the summer.

The Terriers came out 2-0 victors on Tuesday evening against Leyton Orient in their League One fixture, which placed them 5th in the table as they aim for an immediate return to the Championship following their relegation last term.

Callum Marshall was one of several signings who joined the club in the summer to bolster the club’s strikeforce. Huddersfield also publicly missed out on Luton Town forward Joe Taylor who had been on loan at Lincoln City last season after the Championship side pulled the plug on the deal at the last minute.

The Terriers have improved after an early blip in the season to once again put themselves in contention for promotion. However, Micheal Duff does not want his side getting complacent after an impressive run.

“I think that’s 17 points in the last seven games now, so it’s pushing and pushing,”

“We had a horrible run, there’s no getting away from it, and we’ve had to work really hard to get back in a part of the table that we want to be in and around. They don’t get any credit for that, because we feel that’s where we want to be anyway, so now it’s trying to kick on.” stated Duff in quotes provided by the Yorkshire Post.

Huddersfield Town are only behind leaders Wycombe Wanderers in the form table over the last 8 games having won 5, drawn 2 and lost one. Which has coincided with the most difficult run in the league according to the average Points Per Game of their opponents (1.58) with the exception of Lincoln City (1.78).

He went on further to highlight that he needs more from his strikers:

“It might sound like pressure, it is pressure, we can’t keep relying on centre-halves to score goals from set plays to win us games,” the Terriers’ boss added. “I know Callum’s scored a goal right at the end, which kills the game off, but there’s an expectancy, and at the minute it’s not quite landing.

“We’ve had loads of different combinations, but it’s not like they’re not trying. It’s trying to be a little bit more clinical because we’re not always going to come and create that many chances. It doesn’t matter who we play.”

Marshall has four goals involvements so far over his 15 appearances in the league as well as a further two involvements in the Carabao Cup where he scored one and assisted one in the game against Morecambe.
